The Living Water

“You will never wash my feet—ever!” Peter said. Jesus replied, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with Me.” - John 13:8

Today we're going to chat about The Living Water - the who, what, where, when, how, and why of it!

Who and What is the Living water? According to Jesus, the Living Water is the Holy Spirit. John chapter 7 versus 37-39 talks about this: On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink! The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.” He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been received because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Where is the Living Water? If we've been baptized in the Holy Spirit, then He's living inside of us, communing with us all.of.the.time. That's pretty sweet!

Speaking of being baptized in the Holy Spirit, I want to touch on this real quick because I want to make an important distinction that we can find in Acts 8:14-17 - When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had welcomed God’s message, they sent Peter and John to them.  After they went down there, they prayed for them, so the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit.  For He had not yet come down on any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Being baptized into the Kingdom isn't the same as being baptized with the Holy Spirit. They are two separate yet equally important events. There doesn't seem to be one particular order they come in and you can be baptized in the Lord and in the Holy Spirit at the same time.

If you're unsure if you have the Holy Spirit living and dwelling within you, you're not alone. I recently was curious about this as well. Jesus said "You'll know them by their fruits," in Matthew 7:15-20. What fruit? The Spiritual fruit - love, peace, joy, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and faithfulness.

Dear one, if you exhibit fruits of the spirit in your life, and you can hear the voice of Yahweh, then you have the Spirit living and dwelling within you. If not, and you want to, then start with a prayer:

Father God, thank You that You gave me life! Thank You that You saw fit to create me in Your perfect image. Lord, forgive me for not seeking Your spirit sooner, but I'm asking now, Father, for Your spirit to live and dwell within me. Fill my heart, my mind, my bones, my whole body with Your Holy Spirit. Move out any darkness that resides within me - In Jesus' Holy Name anything that is not of Heaven or of Yahweh the Most High God, you GO NOW! By the Blood of the Cross, make me new again with Your Spirit Lord! In Jesus' Holy and Righteous Name, Amen and Amen. ♥

Feel free to sit silently and pray again and again. BELIEVE for it, dear one. BELIEVE that Your Holy Father wants you to Know Him and His spirit. RECEIVE it and know that you are loved! Be a willing vessel for Him so that He can do His will through you and your life.

Why do we need the Holy Spirit for better living? We need living water for overall wellness and health - when we don't have enough water physically, we get sick, and eventually, we will die. Spiritually speaking, when we don't have the Living Water, the Holy Spirit, we will experience spiritual death. Yikes!

One of the ways that keeps us from fully experiencing the Holy Spirit is an unhealthy mind, body, or soul, which is why I encourage you to pray for healing over your body. This is not always the case, but it can be sometimes. Especially chronic pain or illness. Also, it could be as simple as you're not eating well or you may be dehydrated!

This is why I created the 40-day Living Water Challenge. It's a free 40-day online experience that helps women to dig into God's word, drink an adequate amount of water, start on a simple path toward better health, and start new great habits! Click here to learn more about it.

If you'd like to dive deeper into a study about The Living Water, I created a bible study pack on this very subject.
