We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure that He planned in Him for the administration of the days of fulfillment—to bring everything together in the Messiah, both things in heaven and things on earth in Him. - Ephesians 1:7-10
Dear one, you've been redeemed by Jesus Christ. Sit with that for a second before you read on, would'cha?
When you stop to think of what Jesus did for you through His life, His death, His Resurrection, do you ever have a 'take your breath away' moment? Does a tear stream down your precious face? Or if you're like me, a bucket of tears and maybe some ugly crying? 😩I hope so. I hope you get to experience this deep awe in Him.
If not, please don't beat yourself up. If you don't even know what redemption is, what it looks like, what it feels like, then you're in the exact right place because we're going to chat about all of that today.
Redeem means to be next of kin; like having property simply because its been passed down to you. This makes so much sense considering you're a Child of the Most High God, and considering you're a Child of God and He's your Father, doesn't it make sense that you'd be 'next of kin', receiving an inheritance?
To be redeemed also means to be freed from captivity by payment of ransom. RANSOM. Someone saved you with a payment. You were held in captivity, and then someone *cough* Jesus *cough* paid a ransom to free you.
If you've accepted that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord and Savior, and there's no other way to the Father (in Heaven) but through the Son, then you have been rescued via a ransom, and the One who paid your ransom with His life and resurrection is that very One Son. The Prince of Peace. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Yeshua. Jesus Christ.
You were once held in captivity by sin, by darkness, by the devil himself... by death. But now? Now you're free. Jesus broke the chains, He opened the cell doors, He scooped you up and out, He took your hand and led you to a promised Land... He's leading you right now. ♥
He atoned for you, He made a wrong right with His life, He set you free from spiritual death, He released you from blame and debt; He won you back to the Father.

“I thought I could have leaped from earth to heaven at one spring when I first saw my sins drowned in the Redeemer’s blood.” - Charles Spurgeon
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, the door to redemption was opened. This means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ can be forgiven their sins and be saved from punishment in the afterlife. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus says, “For if you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your sins.” This speaks to the central importance of redemption in Christianity – that we can be forgiven for our sins and be reconciled with God through the power of Jesus’ sacrifice. [1]
Psalm 130:7 says: Israel, put your hope in the Lord. For there is faithful love with the Lord, and with Him is redemption in abundance. Even when David was the king of Israel, well before Jesus was even born, God was directing us to put our hope in Him and Him alone. There's no king but Jesus who will redeem you, dear one. Not one. Not a president, not a parent, not a child, not a best friend, not a bad habit, not an addiction, not a job, not money... nothing and nobody but
Jesus.

Are you searching for redemption in other places? In other people? In other things? Be honest. Ask God to show you your heart. If that's the case, don't beat yourself up. Simply accept that you cannot redeem yourself. You cannot save yourself from death or from aging or suffering. It's a part of this walk on earth and it's not the end of the story.
Go to Him today. Seek His face in all you do. Praise Him for what He's done for you and is still doing - He's not done with you. He didn't go through all He did to leave you where you are right now. He has more for you - do His will today. You are redeemed by the One True Living God; go live like it!
