We Are Free in Christ

What does it mean to be Free in Christ?

We're free to love and be loved. Jesus said we're to love God and love others. Those are the top two commands of His followers; His students - you and I. And in Him, we have the liberty to do that.

Last week in my I Am Loved video I talked about the fact that being forced to love isn't love. God gave us free will so that we'd choose Him, choose to love Him more than we love our own lives and choose to love others.

The definition of being free is not costing or charging anything. One of the Hebrew definitions is innocent, guiltless, blameless, and clean. It says we're free from guilt, innocent, free from punishment, and obligations.

Sweet one, that's what Jesus did for you. He paid the punishment - He chose to - for you and you don't owe Him anything. It was a gift. Although, because we love Him so stinkin' much, we choose to give our lives to Him. We are innocent in Christ! Hallelujah!

Another meaning in Hebrew is liberty: free from slavery. Do you know that means you're free from the slavery of the enemy? You're free from the slavery of the world, the government, and other people. I have to ask you a really important, yet difficult question:

Are you choosing to be a slave to those things, or to be free in Christ? You cannot be both. We cannot be slaves to the world and also be free in Christ.

One of the definitions of being free is that we're not subject to government regulation. Through Christ, we have sovereignty over our bodies and minds. The government - no matter where in the world you live - does not! Our souls belong to the Lord because He created them. He's given our bodies and minds to us to steward; not the government.

In Greek, freedom is translated into the word charisma, which is a divine gratuity, deliverance, a spiritual endowment; a gift. The economy of divine grace, by which the pardon of and eternal salvation is appointed to sinners in consideration of the merits of Christ laid hold of by faith. It also means that freedom is the gift of faith, knowledge, holiness, and virtue.

Will you accept Christ's gift of Freedom in Him?

I love how when God does just one thing, it has an enormous ripple effect. Christ on the cross, and His resurrection, has given us freedom, it shows the epitome of love, it proves we are chosen, and we're enough. And then some!

I'll end on this: You are free in Christ and you don't belong to your government. They don't own you. I'll talk more about this in my video which you can watch on my YouTube Channel or Rumble.
